Finals Day.....

Been trying to upload the video of the semi final match but it is not working.  Not sure if its me or if the blogger site is having issues.  So, I will post as soon as I can figure it out.

The final match is just bout to get underway.  Natalie and Jackie will take on Ulrikke Eikeri (NOR) and Eugenie Bouchard (CAN), whose tournament doubles ranking is 498.  "Our team's" ranking for this tourney is 588.  The opponents had to play their semi match yesterday, it was a long and tough match.  Which is a good thing for us, as well as "we" having the day off.  I did watch a little bit of their semi match, and not to dismiss them...but....in my opinion....we are the better team.  Of course, we have to come out of the box dictating and playing our game.  The match should be filled with long points and good volleying rallies.

Happy to say that I will be getting updates from friends that are there....thanks to Laura and David.  I will update you as soon as I hear what is going on with the little bouncing yellow ball!

They just walked onto the  court.....

Semi Final Review

Nat came off the court after yesterday's semi final win and her statement was......"I just went HAM"....hahahaha!  Her and Jackie did work that is for sure.  Let me give a little recap:

Jackie started the match serving and was broke.  We broke back on Slater's serve.  Natalie won her serve and we were up 2-1.

Nat half rips a shank backhand down the line winner to break Sarah.  Jac serves "bombs", Nat and Jac volley winners to go up 4-1.  On fire!

"Our team" broke Slater and we went up 5-1.  Nat serving for the set....Up 30-0, then 30 all, to duece.  Opponent return went long....slice winner by Nat and the first set is ours....6-1.

Came out sloppy and lost the first game of the second set.  Natalie serves an "ace" to start her service game....great volleys by Jac to win game.

Sloppy third game....down 1-2

Jackie's great serves got us to 2 all...then sloppy tennis got us down....3-2.

Natalie serves great then ripped a backhand at 40-30 to make the game score 3 all.  Woot!

We finally break them and take the lead for the first time in the second set.  The opponents stepped up their service games up to this point.

We won the next two games in a row, in control of the points and match.  Very nice tennis indeed.

We are going to the "SHIP".....the CHAMPIONSHIP!   Congrats Natalie and Jackie!

P.S.  I've had several ask me about the amount of money and points the gals can win.  So, I'm going to explain the purse for this tourney in hopes that some may gain some knowledge.  As of right now, the ladies have earned 78 points....that is huge...when they win tomorrow they will get 110 points.  Currently, Natalie is ranked 277 in the world in doubles with 223 points.  When they win, we add 110 points to her ranking she would move up to 200 in the world....which was her goal....she wanted to get into the top 200 in her first year of pro tennis.  If they lose tomorrow then we add 78 points to her ranking she would move up to 214 in the world.  So, she and Jackie are earning many points which is awesome!

Money wise....when they win $2,090 each.  However, Jackie is an amatuer, therefore she will not take any prize money.  If they were to lose, $1,045 each.

To compare to what the singles winner would earn, $11, 400.
