We are the Champions.....My Friends.....la la la la

Good Evening!  Today, started with getting the peach stand open for business at nine.  Natalie left for Atlanta around 10:30, not really sure why she left that early but she did.  I picked up lil Ed and friend AJ and we headed to the finals around 12:30.

The match was moved indoors before it started do to the threat of rain.  Unfortunately, the Lifetime Club is NOT a fan friendly club.  Viewing matches indoors is not a good experience for the fans.  Anyway, our team went up 5-2 in the first when this guy.....

Made several bad rulings on rules he DID NOT know, his inexperience changed the match and nearly the outcome.  Why the supervisor standing behind him would have allowed him to chair such and important match is mind boggling!  Let me try to explain.....

It is deuce, no add scoring  with Natalie serving.  They play out the entire deuce point and Natalie and Ricky win it.  They go to pick up balls to give to opponents for their serve.....the opponents argue with the chair....guy pictured above....that at some point during that deuce point Ricky hit the net.  And that it was their (opponent's) point and game.  The chair said there was a hit of the net and changed it to the opponents getting the game.  UNBELIEVABLE!  Our team approached and argued that the point continued....the chair (guy pictured above) didn't not stop the point and the point was played and finished out....therefore OUR point.  Of course the chair umpire was clueless and gave the opponents the game....Natalie asked for the Supervisor (lady in pic, who of course was no where to be found when this took place) to come to the court for clarification of the rules.  The chair umpire refused to call the supervisor....Natalie requested several times to no avail.  A CLUELESS CHAIR UMPIRE!~

First, let me say that Natalie and Ricky were absolute correct that it was their point because the chair did not stop the point when he heard/saw the net hit by Ricky.  Second, his denial to call the supervisor per the request of a player was also against the rules.  And a brief mention that on several line calls, the opponents bullied him and got him to change the calls.  Pathetic umpiring....it is guys/ladies like him that give GREAT chair umpires a bad name.

Our team lost the next 3 games in a row....because the guy pictured above didn't do his job well and it upset our team.  A game changer....an umpire's lack of knowledge....RIDICULOUS!   Having to play a breaker at 6 all in the first, our team turned it on and won in 7-0.  Too bad they had 3 opponents out there....the two opposite the net and the one sitting in the umpire's chair.

In the second set, our team didn't maintain the aggressiveness used in the breaker.  Therefore, they lost the second 3-6.  Forcing a breaker in lieu of the third set.  Natalie and Ricky went down 0-3 in the breaker, mostly from trying to hit a winner vs. playing the point to develop a winner.  Anyway, they battled back to 9 all with Natalie serving.  The female opponent was the victim of Natalie's awesome serving for us to go up 10-9.  Then serving to the male, who was a jerk to Natalie and partner two years ago at this tourney.....Natalie hit a big first serve that the guy couldn't handle and it went right into the bottom of the net.  OOOOoooo yea, how sweet it was!  WINNER, WINNER, CHICKEN DINNER!

Our team had a great cheering section, we thank ....Ed, Jason, AJ, Jasmine, Abby, Diana, Alex, Hunter, as well as about 12 peeps related to Ricky and his family.  Was a lot of fun watching Natalie and Ricky develop into a solid dubs team.

Now what does all this mean....well let me try to explain!  Our team will go to Nationals in New Heaven, CT in August.  They will be one of thirteen teams to play a draw of 16.  The winner of said Nationals will receive a wild card into the US Open, Mixed Doubles Main Draw.  So that's fun!~

Well, here are Our Champions!

Natalie and Ricky!

Mixed....going to the SHIP!

Natalie and Ricky won 2,2 yesterday.  So today....they are in the SHIP!!! WOOT!  They will play two peeps from Georgia, so home town crowd for all.  Thy play at 1:30!

Mixed and Peaches

Greetings from the Pluskota Peach Stand!  Home late from Nat's mixed match.  Her and Ricky played well together for a second day.  Winning in just over am hour 6-4, 6-2.

They play the Semi Finals at 2:30 today...sorry for late post and not knowing opponents name.  But I got up with the roosters and headed to the orchards to pick up peaches.  And am currently selling said peaches at our stand.

I will update you on today's results soon! Come see me at the stand on Fisher Road near Raymond Hill.  We have Freestone peaches this week, Fireprinces.  Love and Blessings...Sherry!

Food with Friends

Morning!  Wish I had fabulous news bout Natalie's singles match, but no such luck!  Unfortunately, she continues to struggle, not sure what the answer is or will be.  But we continue to strive forward.  Can't help but think that the poor mental coaching in college has continued to leave cobwebs.  Sure wish I could find an exterminator to remove em.  If I had to do it all over again, hindsight is 20/20!

Our gal lost to Ditty 2,3.... I think....I tried to forget if before it was over.  Following that non sense, she regrouped with food and friends.  One of which I owe an apology, Caroline and her mum came to watch and I didn't even recognize them.  It wasn't until they left and Natalie spoke about them that I put two and two together.  Soooo sorry ladies!

Natalie's friend from college Zach, drove from Chatt to watch the matches.  He contacted me several days before and asked that it be a surprise for Nat.  Their friendship always picks up right wear it is left off.  We thank AJ, Diana, Abby, Colleen, and Katie for joining us for the matches as well.  Always fun to have the stands filled with friends.

Have to say sorry again....I posted the wrong address to the Lifetime Club...here is the correct address:
6350 Courtside Drive, Norcross.

Mixed doubles began at 5:30 and last just a lil over an hour.  The opponents were both Georgia residents.  Jeng-Milsten/Kay were a good battle, but we were the warriors.  Even tho Nat and Ricky have only practiced three times together, they jelled rather nicely.  Nat's serve wide to Kay was very effective with a 6'4" partner at the net.  As we all know, the female is considered the weaker on the mixed court so for Nat's serve to be that effective vs. the male opponent, very productive.  And Ricky's huge serve that kicks up 10 feet .....well what can I say....crazy good!  Our team won 3-2 (I think), sorry I don't score keep at the matches, just watch.....so I always forget the scores cuz they are not my focus.

Today's mixed opponents are Aryn Green(GA) and Corey Lovett(NC).  We don't know these players, so can't give you any details.  Looking forward to some great mixed doubles....hopefully the greatness will spill over to Nat's singles court soon!  Until the lil yellow ball begins to bounce at 5:30 p.m.......Love and Blessings....Sherry!

NEW MATCH TIME ...and more....

Good Day Folks!  Hope you are staying cool and enjoying the summer fun!  There has been a change in Natalie's singles match time for tomorrow.  She will play at 2:00 p.m.  Then mixed doubles at 5:30 p.m.

Here is a lil info about Natalie's mixed dubs partner Ricky Doverspike.  He played tennis at Alabama and graduated in 2012.  He and Nat grew up in the Southern Section of the USTA, and saw each other along the way to college.  Ricky is 6'4" tall and has a huge serve, that should set Natalie up for the close at the net.  They should make up a very good mixed partnership.  Will be fun dubs!

Well, back to the grind of housework and catching up on projects....UGH!   Until that lil yellow ball commences the bouncing tomorrow....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Tourney Here in the ATL

Good Morning!  Gearing up for the tourney here in the ATL.  Natalie has been working hard on the practice courts, adding some mixed dubs too.  She and her new partner Rickie Doverspike, have really enjoyed dubs practice.  We are still awaiting the mixed dubs match time and date.  Natalie will play singles tomorrow (Wednesday) at 4:30 p.m.  Again, the site is Lifetime Fitness, Norcross, Georgia.

Peaches

Good Day Folks!  Natalie practiced at 6 a.m. in Macon.  Headed to our salsa supplier to pick up our order and then for home.  Where I'm happy to report she arrived safe and sound.  Thank you Lord!

PEACH SALSA....yes...it's here!  So, if you want some just let me or Natalie know and we will make sure to get it to you.  If you are in Sacramento area and want some, she will bring it with her the first week of July.  Let us know!

Normally by now we have had our peach stands open for business for 3-4 weeks.  Unfortunately, 60% of the peach crop was ruined in the freezes.  Therefore, we only opened last weekend.  But could only get six cases of peaches, we wanted fifteen.  This weekend the orchard doesn't have any peaches to sell us.   Soooo frustrating, want to work to earn funds for travel expenses and coaching fees and can't because of mother nature.  Another brick wall!  So again we climb a hurdle.  Gunna have to drive about hour longer to pick up peaches from another supplier, which cuts into profits and selling time....but we have no choice.  I will pray that all this extra effort will pay off with good sales.  We will be selling LANE ORCHARD PEACHES this weekend.  We will open on Friday around noon and be open on Saturday and Sunday too.  We will have PEACH SALSA and PEACH JELLY too.  Come on out and get your peaches, salsa and jelly!

Natalie has been able to get the mixed doubles drama worked out.  At the risk of a jinx, gunna keep her new partner's name quiet for now.  We will find out on Sunday evening when she will play.  As soon as we do, I will blog any and all info available.  Mark your calendar....she's in ATLANTA playing.

Time to get back to my projects here at home...they are stacked high....Love and Blessings...Sherry!

Prayers

Good Morning Y'all!  First, our PRAYERS are being sent to those affected by the recent storms.   Praying for strength for the families that have lost loved ones or have members with injuries.  May all heal under God's wings!

Happy to say that Natalie has found a new mixed doubles partner for next week.  Hopefully, the "paperwork" will be taken care of today so she can once again focus on her tennis.  Once set in stone we will speak about who she will play with, for changes continue to come.

Our gal is still in Macon, until tomorrow.  Well worth the effort, so that she can practice with her coach and to get ready for the next stint of tourneys.  As an add bonus, one of her former college team mates is in Macon on business this week.  So, the two of them will enjoy some fun time of making new memories.

As for  me, bout to head to the doctor's office with Nana.  We will decide today whether her shoulder will be replaced.  A decision, I'm not looking forward to helping her make.  Soo filled with mixed emotions.  Her quality of life will be better if it gets fixed.  However, will she make it through the surgery.  She has been suffering minor heart attacks over the last couple of years, so I'm not sold that her heart with take such an invasive procedure.  Therefore, Doc Powell....who btw....is an awesome doctor....has his work cut for him to convince us to do this.  Prayers Please!

Make today a great day.....Love and Blessings.....Sherry!

Keep on Trucking....

Happy Father's Day to my Dad in Heaven and all the Dads out there!

After posting my last blog entry, noticed something.  It was my 500th blog....wow...can't believe it!  Thank you so very much for your interest in our blog.  Please be sure to become a member.  Do so by following the directions UNDER the pictures of the members.  You do not have to have a Google email.

Well, I'm not a happy camper today.  Just got a call from Natalie who is stuck in traffic on the way to Macon.  She was upset that her mixed doubles partner for next week has pulled out on her.  And for the second year in a row, it is the week before the tourney and no partner.  We are very happy for Hunter who the USTA offered a wild card for the US Open Mixed Draw with a player from University of Alabama...both of which did well at NCAAs.  A shame they never did the same for Natalie the three years she finished in the Final Four.  Nor since.

Any way, Natalie will spend the next few days looking for a new partner.  Hopefully, she will find one who is at her level or better on the doubles court.  Not an easy thing to do at this point in time.  God's Plan as they say!  You can knock us down.....but we WILL always get up and keep on trucking!  Love and Blessings...Sherry!

Germany Dubs Video....and more....

Good Morning!  Hope each and everyone of you are foot loose and fancy free on this summer day!  We are gearing up to sell peaches at our stands.  The late freeze has us about three weeks behind in opening.  Which of course hurts the tennis travel fund!  Anyway, we should have our Halls Grocery Store location open tomorrow.  That stand is located on Fisher Road.

Slow but surely, I'm starting to work and or catch up on videos and pictures from our France tour.  Below is a link to the video made from the clips taken in Nurnberg, Germany.  Our team faced the #1 seeded team and fellow Americans Raymond/Heber.  Wish I had a better position for filming and had taken more....butttttt.....it is what it is!  Please enjoy!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ox8X7xvv7mQ&feature=youtu.be

Natalie has been working hard on the practice court and in the gym.  As well as around the house with Nana and cleaning.  She and her brothers are doing a great job with their Nana.  And because of all of our efforts, Nana is walking again.  Against all the odds and doubting Thomas'!

This weekend our gal will travel to Macon, to continue her training.  For her coach Jason has to be with the younger players at the big Southern tourney.  Sooo look forward to the day when we can afford to pay Jason enough to work with Natalie exclusively.  It would make a world of difference to her level of play.  Traveling with a coach allows a player to stay in tip top shape on the road.  Make any corrections to any stroke, footwork or mental game component as they deem necessary.  And those corrections made right after a match vs. a month after a match upon returning home to practice.  It just isn't the same for a player to practice with another player vs. their coach.  Anyway....we are still looking for sponsors!

Back to work I go....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

A Bird's Eye View.....video

On a Friday, we said good bye to St. Gaudens, France and boarded a train for Strasbourg.  The plan was to "sign in" for the WTA tourney in Strasbourg, via phone.  Which we would know upon our arrival if Natalie made into the qualifier draw.  If she did, we would have stayed in Strasbourg.  If not, then she and Melichar would attempt to get into doubles at either the WTA tourney in Strasbourg or the one in Nuernberg, Germany.  Two different cities, in two different countries, separated by a 4 hour train ride.

We came up the this plan because both tourneys were VERY weak last year and even had byes.  Which would give Natalie a chance at some "big" points for a ranking boost.  Unfortunately, everyone else, thought the same thing and Nat did not get into the singles draw of Strasbourg.

Because the Germany tourney started a day earlier, our plan would work.  Nicole was already there and monitoring the doubles registration list.  She was to let us know via text if they were accepted into the draw.  If so, we would leave to Germany immediately.  If not, Nicole would head toward Strasbourg in the hopes of them getting accepted there.

Yes, all this jockeying around is nerve racking and a pain in the neck.  But until we can get Natalie's ranking up high enough, we have to do it.  So, thought I would video what it is sometimes like at the deadline, here you go......

Happenings

Good Day!  Hope this lovely summer day has you ready to enjoy some summer fun!  We await for our Natty P to arrive home this evening.  Still trying to decide whether to cook or take her out to eat when she arrives, for it will be close to 9 p.m. by the time we pick her up.  Wonder how much weight she has lost due to the lack of food choices in France.  Hopefully, it won't be more the five pounds, for she can not afford it.

Over the next week or so, I will be posting videos and pictures of the France tour.  Sorry for the delay, but Natalie has the computer that I've download most to.  And that computer is full, so I need to download the old to discs to make room to work with the new.  Something I couldn't due in France due to time.  Guess we will all have to agree that its better late then never.

Wanted to give you a heads up beginning June 23rd, Nat will be playing in the US Open Playoff Regional Tournament here in Atlanta.  The host venue will be the former Racquet Club of the South, which is now Lifetime Athletic Club.  Located at 6350 Courtside Drive, Norcross, Georgia.  We will not know her match times until the night before.  We have had many ask when they can come watch Natalie play nearby.....here is your chance.  This will be the closest to home she will play.  And Natalie would love nothing more then to have a hometown crowd cheering for her, so please do consider coming to watch.

Natalie will play both singles and mixed doubles at this event.  Natalie was the 2012 Singles Champion.  And is looking forward to playing with Hunter Reese a fellow Atlantan and UT Tennis team member.  Who by the way, just won the NCAA Doubles Championship last week.  Natalie and Hunter have played mixed in the past.  They were the 2012 finalist at the US Open Playoff Regional Tournament.

Well, I'm still trying to play catch up around here as well as figure out Natalie's summer schedule.  So, gotta go....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

What to do in July

Good Evening!  Spoke to Natalie earlier via Skype....what a wonderful invention.  Anyway, a loss in dubs today means she will be coming home soon.  Our team lost 4-6 in the first.  And was up 4-2 in the second when our serve was broke and so was the back of the camel.  Our team lost the second set 4-6.

After the Skype session I went right to work on getting her home.  For some reason we had it in our heads that her return flight wasn't till Tuesday.  But once the ticket was reviewed, realized it was for Sunday.  So, didn't spend any extra funds to change the flight.  She will stay in Marseille till Saturday, where she is sharing a hotel room cost.  Then she will ride the train to Paris and stay at a hotel at the airport which has a free shuttle.  And at only 55 Euro for the night a good hotel.   All of which is way cheaper then changing her flight.  A win ...win....she can go to the beach for a break too!

Meanwhile, been trying to decide what to do in July.  She will play the US Open Series tourney here in Atlanta.  This tourney will be June 23-29.  She will play both singles and mixed doubles.  Please come out and watch her play.  Many of you may remember her playing this tourney two years ago.  She was the singles champion and the mixed dubs finalist.  The unique thing about this tourney is the winners are advanced to the National US Open Series tourney.  That tourney is a draw of sixteen with only 13 entrants, winner gets a wild card into the US Open qualifier draw.  She will team up with the same partner....Hunter Reese....fellow Atlantan and UT Tennis player.  Who by the way just won the NCAA National Championship in Doubles, last week in Athens.

Following that tourney, Natalie will head to Sacramento, California for a 50K.  After that, we haven't decided yet.  With the changes the ITF made to the schedule, hard to decide the best bang for the buck. Was nice last year when we could do an upper west tour and do three tourneys in a row.  Getting a big bang for our airline ticket buck.

Hopefully, I will adjust to the time change sometime soon.  My late afternoon nap has me up now at 1 a.m.  Not a good thing!  Let me try to wind down ....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Marseille Update and the Future

Good Morning!  Been chatting with Natalie on FB chatt this morning.  She and Nicole are waiting to play dubs at 4:30 p.m. Marseille time....which is 10:30 a.m. Georgia time.  Nat and Nic won dubs yesterday, 6-4, 6-3.  Which advanced them to the quarters today.  They will face Domingues/Garcia-Vidagany(ESP).  Should be a good match of dubs for the opponents grow up playing on the red clay.  As far as I know, Nat has not faced either ladies on the court in the past.

Been working the last 24 hours on Natalie's schedule for the upcoming six weeks.  Contacting people about possible housing so that I can coordinate the travel and housing.  Well, that all came to a screeching halt this morning when I went on the ITF site.  Looking at the tourney schedules, discovered that the ITF has made some major changes.  One of our favorite tourney, Yakima, Washington has been replaced with Carson, CA.  The Vegas tourney that was removed in January is now back on.  So, its back to the drawing board for a plan of action.

Having said that, gotta go.....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Doubles today.....our Nana

Gooooood Morning America!  Just a quick blog, for I'm on Nana watch today and we are busy already this morning.  Made it home safe and sound last night.  Natalie is still in Marseille, yes.....I'm jealous!  Anyway, she and Melichar are the 4th seeds in the main draw of doubles.  They will play around 11 a.m. Georgia time.  The will play a non seeded team made of Klimenischits (AUT) and Putentseva (KAZ).  As far as I know, Natalie has not faced either on the court before today.

Here is the link to live scoring:

A lil shout out to my two sons, Nic and Edward.  They have done an amazing job taking care of Nana while I was gone.  They did PT with her on days home health didn't come.  And her progress is much.  She can stand on her own and is quick to take steps.  Something the PT staff that was working with were trying to convince us she would never do again.  I'm very proud to have raised two sons that like me....would not give up on Nana!  Love you boys very much!  Love and Blessings.....Sherry!

Follow Jasmine's Directions....HELP Natalie!

Help Natalie by following Jasmine's directions!!!

Happenings in Marseilles

This will more that likely be my last blog until I get to the states on Tuesday.  For, I leave for Paris tomorrow and Natalie will stay to play doubles here in Marseilles.  Unfortunately, she lost singles today.  She was smokin the opponent in the first, serving at 40-0 to go up 5-2.  And couldn't win a point if her life depended on it.  After the match, tears filled the eyes and unrealistic point of view about tennis filled her mouth.  Totally frustrated at the mental state of her game.  But as I told her, only she has control of her mind.  Not sure how to get her over this mental hump.  But I will be working on it when I get home so we will have a plan of action when she returns.

The weather here has been amazing and I hate to leave this beautiful place.  For three straight weeks we barely saw the sun and now that we are, I have to go home.  Must say I have mixed emotions.  I will go back into the fry pan with Nana upon my return.  The break I've had physically and mentally from that situation was needed and has been nice.  However, she had a doctor visit and now they want to do surgery.  I need to meed with the doc and see why he has changed his mind about repairing her shoulder.  As well as the details and post op details, so that Nana and I can decide what to do.  It is ultimately up to her as far as I'm concerned but I want all the details so that I can tell her what they are.  In hopes of her making an informed decision.  Have to brag about Nic spearheading her care and schedule while I've been gone.  I'm sure it hasn't been easy for him and his schedule but he did it and never complained the entire time.  I'm very proud of him and his efforts.

Tomorrow morning I head out, Nat will head to practice.  For she and Melichar will play doubles here beginning Tuesday or Wednesday.  The registration deadline is tomorrow at noon for doubles.  So by late afternoon we will know when they will play their first match.

I will not have a computer with me, for Nat is keeping it.  Therefore, I won't be able to post videos and or pictures until she gets home next week....sorry!~  Hopefully one day, we can afford a computer for me.  Take care and see you on state side....until then...Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Introducing Cedric.....

My apologies to the young man below, whose name was misspelled in a prior blog.  My lack of French skills definitely lead to the typo.
