Good News....

The good news is that Natalie has made it into the singles qualifying draw of the Dow Corning Tennis Classic 100K.  The bad news....it's in Midland, Michigan.....bad news because of the weather.  Am sure that it is probably a lovely place.  After spending 17 days in Florida.....hard to imagine near zero temps and possibly much snow.

Natalie will fly up next Thursday, and I will drive up on Tuesday or Wednesday.  We have a couple of folks we are going to surprise with a visit.  So, that will be exciting indeed.  She will "check in" on Saturday.  Play will begin on Sunday.  Doubles will begin either Tuesday or Wednesday.

Once the lil yellow ball begins to bounce...you will be hearing from me...until then....Love and Blessings......Sherry

This tournament came to an end today...

Even tho we saw this tournament come to an end for Natalie today.  We realize how well she performed on the court during it.  Going 4-1 against some top players in singles and finishing in the semi finals of dubs with a new partner.....great performances indeed!  The results of this tourney will move Nat up in rankings....bringing her into the high 500s in singles and around 190 in dubs.  Pretty darn good for 7 months on the pro circuit.  Exciting!

Today, Natalie and Nicole played the unseeded team of Perez/Molenero (tournament ranked 565) in the semi finals of dubs.  Losing 6-7(1), 3-6.  Not our best day on the dubs court.  If only we had stuck with yesterday's game play.....oooo well....lessons learned!  Perez/Molenero move onto the finals on Sunday and we leave for home in the morning, with a stop in Gainesville.

Many thanks to the Melichar family for allowing us into their home for this tourney.  We have enjoyed hearing their stories of "escape" to Germany.  But not as much as the yummy homemade bread and treats we have been able to enjoy.  We look forward to seeing them in the future!

I can not say enough about the club that hosted this tournament.  The Racquet Club at Tesoro in Port Saint Lucie, Florida is beautiful.  Not only because of the palm tree lined surroundings, or the amazing infinity pool but because of the people.  The director Winston Owen and his staff worked very hard to run a good tourney.  And the club member and volunteers, fantastic folks.  Sooooo very warm and friendly!  It is because of all of them....this tourney was a success for Natalie!  Thank you ALL so very much....we will look forward to next year!

Homeward bound in the a.m.....back to the training courts for Nat....back to the doctor's office for me...ggggrrrrr.   Then Midland, Michigan on January 31st....for the 100k tourney.  Jackie is hoping to be able to come to play dubs with Natalie .....Nat's hoping to sneak into the singles draw.  So, I won't be watching the lil yellow bouncing ball for a short time....until then....Love and Blessings.....Sherry

Hello from the Sunshine State.....

Hello from the Sunshine State....

We had singles, doubles, dinner and movie with friends and yesterday was over without a blog update.  Soooooo....here it is:

Being scheduled on the center court had us waiting.  For the match prior to Natalie's ended up being four hours.  At hour three, they moved Natalie to another court, much to the dismay of some of the fan base she has developed.    Natalie played the 4th seed Tadeja Majeric and as she said afterwards...."I got my a** kicked".  Tadeja is playing very good tennis that is for sure.  But, Nat also needs to give herself credit.  There were several games that she was ahead  in and ending up losing.  She played well considering it was her 5th singles match.  The score was1-6, 2-6.  Natalie has had great results in singles at this tourney, which should take her from 645 in ranking to around 590.  A nice jump indeed....great way to start the season.

Natalie and Nicole made great adjustments on the doubles court.  Therefore, mowing over their opponents.  At one point the opponents aguring over who was going to recieve serve from Natalie on a deuce point (reminder....no add scoring)....neither wanting to recieve.  Once I noticed that, I knew it was pretty much in the bag....if we continued to do our jobs.  Our team won the match 6-1, 6-1.

Today, our team will face Florenicia Molinero (ARG)/Deriana Perez (VEN).  Not sure of their ranking or seeding....and there aren't any draws here in the players lounge.  Sorry, but the cructches hiner me from doing too much searching.  I will have it for the post match update.

I will  be watching the little yellow bouncing ball shortly....updates to follow....sooner or later.  Until then....Love and Blessings...Sherry

Nuttin wrong with winning ugly....W is a W

Well, doubles didn't go smoothly....winning ugly....that is what I would call it.  But hey....a win is a win!  Our team won 7-6(4), 4-6, 10-5.  Was a good win for the first time Natalie and Nicole have teamed up.  During the breaker for the match, our team finally got pumped up and aggressive.   They will face Eguchi (JPN) and Ellie (USA) tomorrow.  A team that is tournament ranked 499.  Dubs will be fourth on after 10...sooooo....3ish.

Natalie will begin her day with the second round of the main draw, known as the round of 16.  She will be playing her 5th singles match against #4 seed Tadeja Majeric (SLO), who is ranked 213.  This will be Majeric's second singles match.  They will play second on after 10...soo....12ish.   This match will be played on Center Court.

Today, many of the folks that Natalie met at the Pro Am came to cheer her on.  These folks are just amazing people with a passion for tennis.  We so enjoy their company and cheering!  Thanks Heidi, Susan, Lynn, Sue, and Ted....hope I haven't forgotten anyone!  Forgive me if I did!  We are all looking forward to watching some more great tennis tomorrow.  I'll get back to you after I watch that lil yellow bouncing ball....till then....Love and Blessings....Sherry

HeeeeHawwww Nat ....

HeeeeeHaawwwww! Natalie won 6-1, 6-3 vs Lauren Albanese. Her and Nicole will take the doubles court here shortly... Maybe 2:30ish

Wednesday's Schedule....

Tomorrow, Natalie will play second on after 10....sooo noonish.  She will play Lauren Albanese (USA), not sure of her ranking.  I just looked at the draw online and it says 652 which is incorrect.  I know she has a protected ranking.  This means she is using the ranking she had prior to a major injury, which is somewhere in the 200s....I think??  Anyway, Lauren is a very sweet young lady, and she is Natalie practice together often.  So, this will be a good match.

Natalie and Nicole (tournament ranked 506) will play 4th on....soooo 3ish.  They were to play the 3rd seeded team, but that has been changed due to an injury of one of the opponent.  They will play the "lucky loser" of the qualifying draw.  The team of Nicole Frankova (CZE) and Ann Schaefer (GER), tournament ranked 752.  I don't know the opponents, therefore have no comments.

So, off to bed....long day of following the lil yellow bouncing ball tomorrow....can't wait...until then....Love and Blessings!
