News From New York....

Good eeearrrrrlllllyyyy morning!  No, I can't sleep.....soooo....guess I'll type.

Well, thought I would let the ole cat out of the bag as they say.  Our gal got news from New York yesterday and is excited.  If you remember, Natalie flew up to New York for the day back in December.  She had a meeting and interview while there.  I'm happy to say that ....SHE GOT THE JOB!  Woot!  Looks like our gal will be working at a resort in the Hamptons for the summer.  A great opportunity to make great money in a short period of time.  Money she is planning on using to return to the tour.  Which of course will take the major stress off the family budget.....a great thing.  Over the years we have sacrificed much as a family in the name of tennis.  At the time of Nat's injury she was just breaking even with expenses.  But now, with her rankings falling she will go back down to zero and not break even for a lil while.  And if she decides not to return to the tour, she will have funds in her pocket for whatever she chooses.

Tonight Natalie arrived in Midland, Michigan.  Back in the fall, she had made Midland her goal for her return to the court and tournament play.  But, that didn't workout.  Instead she will be working at the tournament on some special projects.  An appearance engagement set up prior to her taking the temporary Community Coaching position.  So, had to make some changes to airline tickets, etc.  What a pain, but I got it done.....as usual!

Time to get some ZZZzzzZZZzzz.....I hope.  Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Coach Pluskota....well for now....

Greetings from Georgia!  Hope everyone up east are ok and staying warm.  As for the middle of the country.....nice weather eh....for January that is!  And to the folks out west....never can feel sorry for y'all!  LOL!

Last weekend Natalie and the Oklahoma State team came to Atlanta.  They played in the ITA Kickoff Weekend.  Basically, all the tennis teams in the nation, went to university sites throughout the states.  At which, they played a mini tourney to see who goes "onto" the NCAA National Indoor Tournament in West Virginia.

Each site had four teams competing for a chance to move on.  At the GA Tech site, we had OK State, Columbia, GA Tech and Texas Tech.  On Saturday, OK State beat Texas Tech to move onto the Championship on Sunday.  Having beat Columbia, GA Tech advanced as well.

Being ranked in the Top 20 gave Oklahoma State a chance to win their first dual match to advance to the Championship......for the first time in school history.  The Cowgirls took to the challenge and did just that and moved on, to play GA Tech on Sunday.  If they beat the Bees, the Cowgirls would advance to the National Indoors for the first time in school history.....HUGE DEAL!

Here is a lil video I put together with pictures from the weekend.  Wasn't good lighting or seating for the purpose of photography....but it will do.....please enjoy and check out what happened to the Cowgirls......

Thank You!

35,601 Views.....thank you, thank you!  We appreciate you visiting our blog and hope you do so because you enjoy it.  Ok, so that's what we have to tell ourselves to keep it going!  LOL!

I mean who would have thought that when we fumbled through starting this blog, we would have that many views 2+ years later?  Started to keep folks updated on Natalie's playing and travel.  In hopes to cut back on the text messages we both were getting while at tourneys.  So many loving and caring family members and friends trying to keep up with her and wish her luck.  But, with only so many hours in a day and the focus needing to be training and playing, we had to find a way to keep you informed.  Hence the blog was formed.

We appreciate your willingness to support our blog and Natalie.  We humbly THANK YOU!

Natalie arrived in Atlanta late last night.  The team will practice today and play tomorrow.  Tonight she will go to the movies to see American Sniper with her brothers and Jaynie.  Anyway, if you haven't seen this movie.....it is a MUST.  God Bless America!

See ya after the lil yellow ball bounces tomorrow, hopefully via my lens.  Until then Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Atlanta and Midland

Salutations from a sunny south.  We are enjoying a few days in the 60's, which has been a wonderful change.  Our gal will be heading this way Thursday evening.  "Her team" will be playing at GA Tech this weekend.  If you want to see Natalie coach her team to victory, they play Saturday at 10.  When they win (yes, I'm bias) they play Sunday at 2 p.m.  If by some off chance they lose, they will play at 10 a.m. on Sunday.

Spoke to Nat briefly this morning.  Her rehab seems to be going well.  Up to 12 minutes of running on the ole mill.  Been doing a lil jump rope and box jumps.  Also added, an aqua thread mill, which is awesome.  Allows her to change the water level and cardio workout level.  Needless to say, her endurance needs work.  Being able to work on her endurance with limited pounding is a great thing.  She will progress quicker physically with the aqua mill workouts.  A great thing.

Hopefully, I'll be able to get some great pics of Nat in her new temporary colors.  Next week she will head to Midland, Michigan.  I will miss going this year, but I know her house parents the Frickeys, will take great care of her.  Somehow, I can't bring myself to say I will miss their dog.  (for anyone that knows me, knows I am very, very afraid of dogs.  Especially big dogs, and theirs is HUGE.  Although he loved me by the end of our last visit).

Here's hoping you too are getting a lil break from the harsh winter weather.  Hopefully, the ground hog will do his magic soon.  Until then.....Love and Blessings....Sherry

She Arrived Safe and Sound

Good Morning from a gloomy Georgia!  The last week has been a tough one.  Natalie flew to Stillwater, Oklahoma on Friday.  Happy to say she arrived safe and sound.  She will be the Community Coach for Oklahoma State University's  tennis team.  The coach is making sure she is well taken care of.  Her apartment, new Nike Cowgirl clothing line and transportation all top notch.  As a side note, Nat said the tennis facility and lockers rooms are the best she has seen on a campus thus far.

Happy to say our gal's rehab is going well.  When we spoke last on Sunday, she had run nine one minute stints in her walking routine.  So, def progressing well.  She will meet on campus with a friend of Tab's who will help oversee her PT through May.  Well, let's hope its just through May or less.

Sorry, I digressed.  As for Nana, she is getting stronger every day.  Although the bruise on the side of her head, neck and shoulder are a constant reminder of the horrible fall.  I'm hoping we get a few warm days soon so I can get her outside for a change.

Hope everyone is staying warm and enjoying winter sports in piles of snow.  I love snow.  Not sure I will get to see any this year, but I hope you are enjoying it.  Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Trust Me, I Won't Hold My Breath

Sooooo, here I sit for the third or maybe the fourth early morning in a row.  Thoughts flowing at the failures, tears trying to make sense of the last few days.  Ticked off at the outside influences.  People who THINK they know Natalie, me or our family.  Passing judgements, trying to influence for their own benefit.  Which of course IS NOT in Nat's best interest.  They are not welcomed here any longer!

Good news for Natalie at PT yesterday.  After two weeks of walking two miles at a fast pace, she began to run.  She mixed in five one minute runs into her walking routine today.  A bit nerve racking for her, a test of her confidence.  But a huge mile stone for rehab.  Unfortunately, it was her last visit with the best PT in the nation.....Tab.

Back in December, Natalie and I met and she laid out her plan for the next year.  Of course, some of which hitched on the recovery of her foot.  But the loosely plan of action WAS to be:   continue rehab,  begin on court training, begin to play doubles only early spring, hopefully be hired for the New York thing for the summer, continue dubs play during summer and full time again in the fall.  Then in the fall she would decide to go back to playing singles or not.

From that conversation forward, plans were being made.  Physical therapy booked, her teaching lessons booked, appearances booked, appointments booked, flights booked, training coaches booked, sponsors contacted, fundraising planned.  All of which, along with the last two and half years.....thrown out the window a few days ago.   And for what, a Community Coaching Job!

Seems our gal has decided to move to the west tomorrow, yes tomorrow Friday.  As I know and you know, Natalie will do a fantastic job at this meager adventure, however it is NOT a good decision in my eyes.  But hey....what the hell do I know.  And of course those outsiders are no where to be found to cancel or plan all of those things involved, cuz that's not in their best interest.  But they sure have a lot to say bout something they know very little about.

And NO, I can't find any positives in this situation at the present time.  I've been up three straight nights, searching for them.  For anyone that knows me knows that I always can find the positives.  As I told Natalie, I can count on less then one hand how many times I've been totally against her doing something.  In the past,  I have supported many things she has wanted to do even tho I didn't agree with them.  But in my eyes, this is like Peyton Manning quitting his job with Denver  to go play high school football quarterback.

As we saw 2014 end, the WTA released the final rankings for the year.  Natalie's finished ranked 901 in singles and 282 in doubles.  Her career singles win/loss is 47-47 thus far.  And her doubles win/loss is 70-52.  Not bad considering she was out on injury for half the year.  Guess time will tell if she really plans to finish what she started or just hobble away.

On a side note, Nana is doing well considering the fall she had.  She is still pretty bruised from the side of her head down to her shoulder.  As for me, still not over the bug yet, but I did get to see the doc for meds.  And for those of you I spoke to about a job, that's on hold now since there is no longer anyone going to be here to rotate Nana duty with.

Well my friends, 2015 is stinking already....can only go up right?  Trust me, I won't hold my breath!  Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Help Save the Lady Vol Logo

Hello from a soggy Georgia!

It has been decided by the new AD, to get rid of the Lady Vol Logo.  A horrible decision.  And in my opinion, made by someone who doesn't understand nor care about the journey it took to put that logo in place.  The removal is a slap in the face of Pat Summitt and all the Lady Vol athletes that are and have represented the university while wearing it.  A slap administered by a male that hasn't been around UT long enough to understand it's importance, unfortunate indeed.

There is a FB page in support of fighting to keep the Lady Vol logo.  Natalie was asked to write an article for the page.  Here it is:

Please feel free to sign the petition in support of keeping the logo.  Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Nana Update

Happy 2015!  Already off to a rough start, so I guess it can only get better....right?  Back home and ready to take down those Christmas decorations.  Which of course is a month or so earlier then last year.  LOL!  Remember that?  I do and chuckle every time I see that have removed tree in my mind.

Our Nana had to go back to the ER less then 24 hours from the first trip.  Unfortunately, she picked up a bug while there the first time that developed into pneumonia.  Happy to say that after threes days in the hospital she came home yesterday.  We got home yesterday too.  Nana's battle scares from the fall, are a colorful sight.  Bless her heart!  We are very thankful that she didn't break any bones, a miracle indeed.

Sorry to say I can't update you on the meeting in New York yet.  For Natalie hasn't heard anything from them yet, our guess it will be next week.  We are sure they are closed for the holidays.  As they say....no news is good news!

Well, time to get to the unpacking.  Love and Blessings.....Sherry!
