Mentoring Starr's Mill HS team

Recently, Natalie gave her time to three local high school tennis players.  The best part being the questions they asked her about recruiting and college.  We love nothing more then to share our knowledge of our journey.  We know that the "secret world of tennis" is hard to figure out.  The three players for Starrs Mill are Rachel, Caroline and Erin.  Here is a video of a few pictures I took, please enjoy!

Video.....Captiva Island

Here is a lil video I put together with the pictures I took at the South Seas Island Resort Tourney on Captiva Island.  The tourney director Nick and his staff did a great job as our hosts.  Many thanks to them for a job well done!

Happenings

Natalie's 2013 season came to an end in Captiva Island.  After her loss to Embre in singles and dubs loss to Sanchez/Crawford.  After her loss in dubs on Wednesday, we headed to the beach for fun.  Nat and Crawford had a chance to go on jet skis, a first for both.  They enjoyed the ride, I enjoyed peace on the beach.

Yesterday, we spent a lil more time on the beach.  Followed by poolside bingo.  We headed inland for some errands and a couple of meetings.  Meetings that I hope will turn into some positives for Natalie's career.  We soon turned north for home, with a stop over in Gainesville.  Today, we were up and out early and made it home safe and sound.  Now for the unpacking of three weeks on the road....ugh!

I will get the pics up soon from Captiva...but first.....the unpacking.....until then Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Captiva Island .....football and coconuts

Helllllooooo from a very southern part of Florida.....Captiva Island.  What an amazing place to end the 2013 tennis season.  Natalie saw her 2013 singles season come to an end today, with a loss to Lauren Embree.  I'm very happy to say that Nat played really well, just didn't convert on the important points.  She would set up the point perfectly and then not close it.  Unfortunate indeed.  But props to Embree for a well played match.

Natalie will have a practice day tomorrow and dubs on Wednesday.

We had a chance to head to the beach today.  Was overcast but we didn't care, just wanted to chill.  We had Emily and Jackie join us.  The girls played a little football and then relaxed in chairs.  Something the three of them don't get to do very often.  A few of the highlights would have to include six guests to the USA trying to take pictures of themselves jumping in the air....soooo funny to watch.

Another highlight would be Natalie and Emily throwing the football up at coconuts in trees.   Thinking they could knock one down to check out.  Unfortunately that is not what happened.  Jackie was manning the video recorder.....soooo please check out what happened to the football......

Recap and update

Recap of New Braunfels.....Natalie made it to the finals of the qualifying draw before falling to Osaka.  She and Jen Ellie beat Alda/Turner in the round of sixteen in the dubs draw.  In the quarters, they played Sanchez/Gibbs.  What great dubs that was, but our team lost 6-7(1), 1-6.  Nat and Jen had a great time playing and played well together.

Two days and five states later and I'm in Florida.  Not to my final destination of Captiva Island, but here.  Still have about four hours to drive today and food shopping upon arrival.  Natalie and Jackie flew into Tampa on Friday, drove to Naples for an overnight stay.  Woke up on Saturday and Jac's friend drove them to Captiva.

Our gal will play third on after nine today.  Her opponent is Mercedes Hammond (USA).  Someone that Nat hasn't play before.  As far as doubles is concern,  Natalie will team up with Whorisky.  Nat and Cat were doubles partners at Tennessee.  They teamed up at the later part of Nat's freshman year and for her entire sophomore year.  Two of Natalie's three doubles All American status' were gained with Cat.  A very successful team,  they lost in the semis of the NCAA tournament the first year.  And, were the finalists of the NCAA tournament Nat's sophomore year.  The ITA/USTA named them the National Team of the Year.  An honor presented to them at the US Open.

Because I'm so looking forward to the beach....time to complete this blog so that I can get my "toes in the water.....as* in the sand".....until then....Love and Blessings.....from a very road beat Sherry!
