Doubles

Doubles will be Thursday ....third on after ten....which is code for 3ish.  Not sure if it will be on live video feed or not.  But you can follow links to either video or score feeds, they are posted in previous blog entries.

When Natalie and Nicole win....yes, I'm bias and it's OK....my blog....hahahaha......they will play a second doubles match after a rest period.

Night!

Dubs Cancelled

Natalie's dubs match has been cancelled due to rain, will be played tomorrow.  Will post match time once schedule is released.  Until then, I'm off to the track.....got a bit of a jelly roll to work on.  Thank you stress eating.....NOT!   Love and Blessings my friends.....Sherry!

Live Video Streaming Link, France Update

Wwoooossssshhhhh!  Just arrived here via the winds!  For we are having wicked weather here in the south.  Just not liking it at all!

Natalie's doubles match will be played as the very last match on the stadium court today.  Her featured doubles match will follow the featured singles match.  And won't start before 7:30, but can be later then that.  Here is the link to watch the match via live video feed:

http://www.usta.com/Pro-Tennis/Pro-Circuit/2014_pro_circuit_womens_live_streaming/

Checked the movement of Nat on the alternate list for the first tourney in France.  She has moved up to the 44th alt spot.  Crazy I know, but that is how all this works.  Hopefully, the ladies that plan to remove their names from the pool of players will take the professional route and do it soon.  But, even in this part of the "system".....gamesmanship is ramped.  The result of young immature and misguided minds.

Although I had planned to join Natalie today, not sure I will make it out the door to head south.  With all that is going on with our Nana, not sure I can get it all done today.  We will see what happens.  Time to exit stage left.....Love and Blessings.....Sherry!

Singles, Dubs and Nana

Must start by sending prayers to those affected by the recent storms.  Hopefully, everyone is safe and sound!  Also, sending prayers to those involved with the recent shooting here in Atlanta at FedEx.

Natalie played first on today.  Although the score doesn't reflect it, the match was tight and competitive.    However, Nat was not the victor and lost 2-6, 1-6.   Bringing her singles competition at this tourney to an end.

Tomorrow, our team of Natalie and Nicole will play not before 7:30 p.m.  That means they are the featured doubles match for the evening.  Which if I had to guess, will be on live video feed and live scoring.  As soon as I find out for sure, I will let you know.

No matter how hard I'm trying to getting ready to leave town, seems God has different plans.  Today, I went to visit with our Nana and at the end of our 5 hour visit .....was more discouraged then ever.  Found out that tomorrow is day 20 of the allowable 20 days that Medicare allows.  Now, we can pay $152 co pay PER DAY for Nana to stay there.  Exactly where does the White House think the elderly are going to get the funds to pay for rehab.  Isn't that why my mom and others like paid into Medicare their entire working careers.....and ....now she needs it and nope.....still have to pay more.  And yet people that haven't paid a dime in taxes nor worked a day in their lives.....get every thing for free.  The White House and both sides of the isle should be ashamed of themselves!  Buying votes at the expense of our elderly!

So, yes....now I'm in a panic!  For now I have to make arrangements with home health care and our family members to "cover" the days with Nana while I'm in France.  Of which I had already done prior to her going to hospital, but then cancelled due to her going to rehab cuz they told me she would be there six weeks.....NOT!

To help make lemonade from this misery the medical profession continues to place upon us....I will educate.  Please know, that if someone goes into rehab and are on Medicare.  They only have 20 days at 100% coverage.  On day 21, they are either discharged or can pay 20% and Medicare 80%.  But all of this hinges on progress, if the person isn't making enough progress they are discharged.  Isn't this ridiculous.....instead of the patient staying longer to work on progress....nope....kick em out!

Well, hopefully I will head to Florida at some point soon.  Until then....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Floridian Update

Floridian doubles update, Nat and Nic will play the first round of the main draw on Wednesday.  They will play the American team of Marand/Abeza, who are tourney ranked 465.  Natalie and Melichar are the fourth seeded team with a tourney ranking of 396.  You may recognize the names of the opponents for Natalie and Marand have teamed up in the past and play well together.  And Nat was to play with Abeza in Jackson, but she pulled out of the tourney.

Natalie will play singles first on tomorrow at ten o'clock.  Again her opponent is the one seed Elkeri.  Have a great evening folks!

SEVEN ACES.....

News Flash....Natalie won....WOOT!  Went up 2-1 in the first, then stepped on the gas pedal.  There were a couple of games that she was down as much as 15-40 and battled back to win the game.  Finish the last few games in the first with five aces, two of which were in one game.  She went up early in the second set 3-0, before allowing the opponent hope.  At four all, Natalie never looked back and won the  match 7-5, 6-4.  With a total of seven aces and only three double faults (all in second second).  Her opponent, Litvak had nine double faults and no aces.  Guess serving made a big difference in this match.

Tomorrow, Natalie will play the last round in the qualifier verse a gal from Norway, Ulrikke Elkeri.  This opponent tends to stay in tourneys for a long time, winning matches via the lob ball.  She is a master at it and it serves her very well.  A very nice young lady that Nat has never faced on a singles court.  They did face each other on dubs courts in the past.  Should be a long match of solid tennis.

As for dubs, the draw has not be released at the time of this writing.  Nor the schedule for tomorrow.  I will update when the information becomes available.  Until then.....Love and Blessing....Sherry!

P.S.  Had some of my numbers wrong....corrected...hope they are right now!

Florida and France Updates

Natalie will be taking the court first on today, at ten o'clock.  And again, will face fellow American Litvak.  We will know about doubles after the deadline at noon.  Nat will be playing dubs with Nicole Melichar.  You may remember Nic from Dothan and Midland, for they teamed up in those tourneys too.

As for the first tourney in France.  They released the initial lists on Friday.  At that time, Natalie was 173rd alternate to the qualifier.  Today, she has moved up to 150th alternate.  Not to panic....this is a normal happening....nerve racking....YES!  There are several things to consider, first how many have the tourney as their second, third or even fifth in priority.  Meaning they signed up for many tourneys the same week and will be placed in one of them.  I counted bout 130 players, put a priority other then one for this tourney.  Which means at the freeze deadline, this coming week.....most ...if not all of those players will fall off the lists.  Moving Nat up to about 20th alternate.  All of that plus the fact that most players can't afford to purchase an airline ticket on the "hope" of getting into a draw, leads us to believe she will get into this tourney.  And of course she shouldn't have a problem getting into doubles due to her high ranking.

Well, time to go watch the live scores on court four....for the lil yellow ball is about to bounce....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Florida, France and Blackhawks!

Lil dreary afternoon here in Georgia, not the case in sunny and hot Florida.  Natalie played the first round of the qualifying draw today.  Verses Daniel, who happens to train with Nat's coach as well.  Poor Jason is down at the tourney and had to play Switzerland.   Anyway, the match started close and on serve, but Nat made a break for it at 3 all and never looked back taking the first set 6-3.  The second set was relatively quick with Nat the victor at 6-1.  Watching via the live scoring feed, the opponent was not having a good day, having double faulted 8 times, compared to Nat's 2.

Tomorrow Natalie will play fellow American Litvak.  The two have never faced each other on the singles court.  The opponent is a very defensive player that uses the lob often and much to her advantage.  Nat's patiences and willingness to dictate should win her the match.  Time will tell!

Today, I packed for France.  Trying to pack "lightly"so as to leave room for the way home, is not an easy feat when you will be there for a month.  In one....yes, I said.....ONE.....suitcase!  The thought of the possibility of only being home for less then 24 hours prior to leaving for the airport.....is making me nuts!!  So, I'm trying to have as much organized as I can prior to leaving to go get Natalie in Florida.

Well, back to the grind!  Love and Blessings.....and.....GOOOOOO BLACKHAWKS........Sherry!

Floridian Update.....SHE'S IN!

YES....Natalie got into the qualifier in 50K in Florida.  She will play singles tomorrow vs. fellow American & junior Andie Daniel.  Who happens to be coach by Natalie's coach Jason, who is also at the tourney.  Guess Jason will get to see both of his works of art in motion tomorrow.

Nat will play third on after 10 which of course is code for 1:30ish.  She will play on stadium court.

Here is the link to live scoring for Natalie's match:

Kyphoplasty for Nana.....Nat update too

Spring has finally sprung in Georgia....and we are loving it!  Busy day yesterday, Natalie flew out at 9 a.m. to Melbourne, Florida.  Where she is still hoping to get into the qualifying draw of the Audi Melbourne Pro 50K Classic Tournament.  As of the last published "list" she is still four out, however she is the first American out....so def a wild card candidate.  She should get into the draw.  And she and Nicole Melichar will get into doubles, their combined tourney dubs ranking is around 360 in the world. Please be reminded as to what I mean by combined tourney dubs ranking.....a teachable moment if you will.....they take each individual player's double ranking and add it to their partner's and that is that pairs ranking for said tournament.  Hope that is as clear as mud!

As for me, I will be joining Nat some time early next week.  For I'm trying to spent as much time with Nana as possible prior to the France trip.  She is still in the rehab center.  Yesterday, she had a procedure called Kyphoplasty.  This procedure is for the treatment for spinal fractures due to osteoporosis or cancer.  Basically, a Interventional Radiologists (doctor) injects "putty" into a broken vertebra.  All the while they are watching the injection via x-ray.  Said putty hardens within minutes and pulled the vertebra away from the spinal cord, which reliefs the pain INSTANTLY.  They "puttied" two of Nana's vertebra, and the difference is pain and mobility is amazing.  Now the putty is cement which makes those vertebra tough as nails!  We should be seeing great progress in PT after this procedure.

Just wanted to share that information about the Kyphoplasty procedure, for I think it's one major step in medicine for patients with said illnesses.  Very exciting!

Aaaahhhh Paris in the spring, just wish I was excited.  But with all that is going on with Nana and the continued fund raising its just plain hard.  Having to go to the funeral home for "pre arrangements" cuz of me being overseas hasn't helped my mental state at all.  But, just felt like it had to be done since Nana was digressing so quickly and I would be so far away.  Hoping that having that behind me, the Kyphoplasty results being so good and today's planned packing will get me in the right state of "excited" mind.

Natalie will check into the tourney between 3-6 p.m. today and we will know shortly after that if she's "in".  Yes, there will be live scoring...and....yes....I will post the times and link.  But until then....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Please Enjoy and Giggle Jamaican Style

Hello Folks!  Hope everyone has been enjoying lovely spring weather.  I'm very happy to say we are, and its been great!   Our freezy cat otherwise known as Natalie, has appreciated the warm weather that is for sure.  She has been working hard on the practice courts and in the gym.  Preparing to fly to Florida on Friday for the 50K.  She hasn't been accepted yet, but with only being 7 out, we feel she will get into the qualifier.  And will for sure get into doubles.  I will drive down to join her next week.

While trying to "clean" up the computer to make space.  I stumbled upon some video out takes that I thought should be shared.  Hope Natalie doesn't mind, but hey what she doesn't know won't her hurt...eh? I can't wait for her to see it.  Anyway, the out takes are from a project she was working on for a college class.  She chose to do a video of her "rapping", yes....I said...."rapping".....a report if you will about the woman's movement in Jamaica.  Not sure how she talked her brother into helping her, but she did.  Yes, I do....he's an awesome and supportive brother.  It won't take you long to figure out that they are trying to practice to be come perfect....altho I'm not sure the will ever be perfect with this rap but anyway.....I have to give em props for trying.  Besides the finished product got Natalie an A ....so they ended up doing something right!  Here it is, please enjoy and giggle away:

Video....Kid's Clinic Game

Since we are always blogging about Natalie helping at the different kid's clinics.  Thought it would be fun to post a short video of one of the games the kids played at the Dothan clinic.  Was the first time we saw this game and thought it was a good one.  One that should be share so others can play it.

The kids hold the racquet and on count of three have to step to the left .....leaving their racquet and getting hold of the one to the left.  If they drop it they are out.  Who ever is left takes one step backwards and they repeat the process until winner is left.  The kids loved it, check it out:

Guess God Had a Different Plan!

Well, after being up 4-1 in the first set of dubs yesterday, our team lost it 5-7.  They turned their "turtle power" back on and won the second fairly easily 6-2.  The breaker was an entirely different story, Natalie and Nicole went down 1-5 before turning it up and catching up.  Seemed we were plagued with minor issues that kept us from winning points.  Battled back via Natalie's great serves and Nic finding her awesome volleys to make it 9-8.  But in the end it was a log out long that cost us the match and from advancing.  Guess God had a different plan for our team!

Today, we head home to see Nana and ready for one more trip/tourney in the States and then France.  We are still trying to raise funds for the trip to France.....soooo.....if you feel inclined to send Natalie a gift you may do so via PayPal using the email address of pluskotatennis@yahoo.  Or via snail mail, at Pluskota, P.O. Box 584, Tyrone, Georgia 30290.

Please know that every gift is important and appreciated, for every dollar adds up to success.  We appreciate your consideration and continued support!   Time to pack and go see Nana.....Love and Blessings.....Sherry!

Ear Muffs and Apache Helicopters

Good Morning!  Here's hoping the sunshine we see this morning indicates the cold and rain of yesterday are a goner.  Crazy to go from eighty degrees to thirty-five in a twenty-four hour period of time.

Made our way to the courts yesterday morning so that Natalie could help with a kid's clinic.  A local elementary school sent over about sixty students for some mini tennis activities.  After a brief exhibition by Natalie and fellow American Jenn Ellie the kid's games began.  There was a lot of heavy breathing and giggles happening.  The best kid's question asked of Natalie....."how do you hit the ball between your legs?".  Yes....she was hitting tweeners during the exhibition.  Nat's reply, "after many years of practice".   Always a very proud mom moment when you can watch one of your own giving back to a sport that has given them so very much.

Following the clinic, Nat put on her ear muffs.....yes....her ear muffs and went out to practice.  Following practice we met up with another player and her escort to discuss our France trip.  For she and Nat will play doubles together and she wanted to see if Nat would extend her trip another month or two.  Becoming travel buddies if you will.  Unfortunately, can't give many details for the tennis world is a small place and "corporate espionage"is ramped.  As we found out again the other day.  I was talking to another American player about our France trip, a foreign player over heard part of our conversation.  While we were still engaged in the convo, said foreign player sent a text to the player I was speaking to that went something like this....."do you want to play dubs when you go to Europe, just wanted to ask you before Natalie did?"  Now mind you the American player told us about it later and we never asked to see the text message....sooooo......was the American trying to stir the pot??  That is the kind of thing that divides the women's side of tennis.  And what these young and sometimes foolish players don't understand is that they are only holding themselves back for there is room in the tennis world for all of them.

Our evening was of mellow content, which we throughly enjoyed.  Our host Major Lee, cooked us a yummy pasta dinner.  We enjoyed getting to know him and his gal Courtney.  The ole Major flies Apache helicopters and works with our young men and women during their training processes.  Don't know about you but I think it would be amazing to fly on one and the fact that Lee has and does is pretty darn cool.  We thank you Major Lee for your service to our country and keeping us safe and sound.  And of course for a great dinner and fellowship!

Today, Natalie and Nicole Melichar will team up to play the third seeded team of Moleniro (ARG) and Coyg (PAR).  Natalie has faced both opponents in the past with mixed results.  Should be really good doubles.  They will play today, third on after ten....soooo ....that is code for 3ish.  Here is the link to the draw and the live scores:

http://www.itftennis.com/procircuit/tournaments/women's-tournament/info.aspx?tournamentid=1100031500

See you on the flip side of the lil yellow ball bouncing....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

P.S.   Nana is doing well and seems to be on the upswing!  Thank God!  Your continued prayers are appreciated.

Happenings and Pelham Video

Hello from a sunny and hot Dothan, Alabama....and in no way is that a complaint.  Arrived safe and sound yesterday, thank you Lord!  Natalie had a few practices then we were invited to a BBQ.  Of course, the ladies are always starving by the time the food is served.  And yesterday was no different, they enjoyed the amazing pasta, salad, bread and desserts feast.  So, did I!

We were able to meet our host for the week.  We met Lee at the BBQ and made our way to his lovely home shortly after.  After a brief tour of the place and meeting of Luther (his dog), we retired for the night.  Looking forward to spending time getting to know Lee and what he does serving our awesome country in the military.

Today, is practice day for Natalie.  Then the ProAm this afternoon.  So a very long day, since we arrived at the courts at 9 a.m. this morning.  Our dubs team of Pluskota/Melichar will find out early this afternoon if they will play tomorrow or Wednesday.  At this point they are the 5th highest ranked team, so they are in the main for sure.

Below is the video from Pelham....due to my time....I just made one long one verses two....sorry, best I can do considering all that is going on in our lives right now.  Please enjoy.....

Made a Mad Dash....or two....or three.....

Been a very exhausting thirty six hours to say the least.  Woke up early yesterday morning so that Natalie could visit with Rick and Bubba on the air.  What a delightful visit, they are such awesome folks.  Natalie always enjoys being on their radio show and yesterday was no different.  Here are a few pictures:

Following the show, we returned to our host home to do laundry and pack.  Following lunch we went to watch Katelyn (Nat's host sister) play in one of her middle school matches.  Made a mad dash from that to the courts for the kids clinic.  The Pelham Racquet Club does an awesome job teaching appox. 100 kids at the clinic.  Everyone had a blast.

Then a mad dash was made back to the host home to see if Nat's strings had be delivered and a quick change to party clothes.  Then a mad dash to the Birmingham Zoo for Bubba's 50th Birthday Bash.  We had a great time at the bash.  Then a mad dash to drive to our home in Georgia.  Upon our after midnight arrival our last mad dash for the day was to our beds.  Exhausted!

Many thanks to the Bussey Family for taking such great care of us this week.  We welcome them to Team Pluskota!  We had so much fun getting to know them and sharing many laughs with them.  Their passion for God, life and tennis is contagious and we love them for it.  Bill and Betty have raised two awesome young folks that have been a blast getting to know.  We had to take rain checks for the four wheeling and boating but looking forward to any time we will get to share with them in the future!

Sure hope that the folks of Pelham and the surrounding areas realize how lucky the are to have the Pelham Racquet Club.  We are thankful for Billy, Chaney and Rusty for their hard work and dedication to tennis.  These three peeps along with their staff hosted another great tourney and we are very thankful.  Looking forward to next year already!

Natalie was up and out to see her Nana by 7:45 this morning.  After her visit, she drove to Atlanta to work out at the gym with Paul then to the club for a tennis workout.  Then back to the rehab center to visit with Nana.

This afternoon, our gal "checked in" via phone to the Dothan 50K tourney.  She wasn't in the Qualifying Draw and was hoping to get it.  Spent the next three hours texting with several different people that were at the tourney as to her chances.  You see the Dothan tourney is the first of three with wild card implications to the French Open, so the field of athletes is very tough.  Shortly after the deadline passed, several friends texted her to let her know she didn't get in and was indeed the fourth alternate.  The first time she didn't get into a tourney, she was not a happy camper.  I guess God has different plans.

We will go to see Nana first thing in the morning....btw...she is doing good, not digressing anymore....Thank GOD.....hopefully the start to her getting stronger and back some of what she has lost.  Then we will head to Dothan, for doubles.  Natalie will practice when we arrive and then we will attend a neighborhood BBQ to meet our host family.

Currently working on the Pelham video, so please be patience with me...thank you!  Natalie is out with her brothers and some friends, I'm sure she will be home shortly.   Time to peace out of this here blog.....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

LINK>>Rick and Bubba Show Live.....listen for a certain tennis player you know

Last evenings doubles match saw the end to Natalie's play here in Pelham.  After going up 5-3 in the first, something seem to possess our team and it was down hill from there.  Unfortunately, Denise tweeked her knee and it was down hill from there.  Hopefully, it will be better with the rest she will now have prior to the Dothan tourney.  A lil prayer for her, please.

Following the Rick and Bubba Night at the tourney, we ordered pizzas at our host home.  Enjoyed gut busting laughs as we watched live clips of the Rick and Bubba Show and then TV bloopers.  I would recommend both to you.  Be sure to watch Bubba at a golf charity, he informed the gallery to move back.  Unfortunately or maybe fortunately....for our viewing pleasure....they didn't.  See what happened.  All can be found on YouTube.

Shortly we will head to the station for Natalie to appear on the Rick and Bubba Show.  You can listen to the live broadcast at the link below.  She should be on after 8:30 a.m., Central Time.  That would be 9:30, Georgia time.

http://www.rickandbubba.com/listen-live.php

Later we will have the pleasure of attending Bubba's not so surprise ...surprise party.  Then head home to see Nana and the Pluskota men.  Nana is still in the hospital and having PT.  She will move to the rehab center in the next few days.

Not sure if Natalie will get into the Dothan 50K tourney.  For it is the first of three tournaments that have French Open Wild Card implications.  Making it a very tough one to get into.  Natalie will "check in" via telephone tomorrow.  Then if needed we will head to Dothan at some point tomorrow.  If not, we will head that way for doubles by Monday.  Want to give Natalie as much time with Nana as possible, hoping to put her mind at ease.  As well as take Nana a piece of the strawberry whipped cream cake she has grown to love that can only be gotten at Joe's here in Pelham.

Well, need to do laundry, pack and load the car then head to the studio.  Hope you enjoy listening to the Rick and Bubba Show as much as we do.  Until the flip side of Rick and Bubba, Rick and Bubba (she says singing as their tag line)......Love and Blessings.....Sherry!

Threatening to Order

Yesterday, our Nana was taken to the OR to set her shoulder.  Unfortunately, after the awesome Dr. Powell put it into place 5 times, it continued to pop back out.  If Nana were younger they would be replacing the ball of her shoulder.  Instead we will let it heal however it chooses and hopefully the pain will subside and she will manage with it.  She will remain the hospital a few more days and then she will be moved to a rehab center for a few weeks.  Hopefully by the time she comes home she will be much stronger after having several PT sessions a day.

Natalie made a visit to the Valley Intermediate School.  Stayed a few hours and enjoyed the kids and their questions.  We were told that the students were asking prior to the visit if Natalie was coming back again this year.  Which to my understanding was the first time the students were wanting a specific player to return.  I'm very proud that Nat is making such an awesome impression on our youth.

Following the school visit our gal had several practice sessions.  Then we headed over to Briarwood Christian School to watch Hunter's team play.  They won pretty easily.  Was fun to meet his team mates and share a little knowledge about "courting" college coaches and the recruiting process.

We made our way out for dinner at a local place.  Which I think was topped off with Natalie threatening to order a big margarita.  If you know Nat, you know that she does not drink alcohol.  Many thanks to a DUI video in 7th grade Health Class.  Sorry, I digressed.  Anyway, there was a table filled with about 25 men.  And she said the following, "if I order a margarita, they will know I'm of age".   I'm sorry but we all laughed so hard at her and her dating woes.  One of which...in her eyes....is everyone thinks she is 16 years old so they don't approach her.

Today, Natalie and Denise will play the #2 seeded team of Gutherie/Cako.  Our team is tourney ranked 577, the opponents are 433.  They are the featured match for the second time this week at 5:30.  The Rick and Bubba Radio Show is a sponsor of tonight's events.  We will have a BBQ and then the dubs match.

Until the lil yellow bounces......Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Video.....Jackson, Mississippi

Please Continue to Pray for Our Nana

A very long day came to an end around 9:30 last night.  Upon walking in our host's home, we all scattered like mice to our rooms.  Either to seek a bed or a pen for homework.  Although my eyes opened bout an hour ago, they certainly couldn't wait to close short after ten.

Headed to the tennis center at ten yesterday morning.  Skies clear and sunny, but a chill in the air.  Natalie warmed up and then had to play the waiting game.  The match on "her" court was at snail pace, eventually causes Nat's match to be moved.  Natalie just plain struggled on singles court.  Way to many unforced errors, something she hasn't done in a very long time.  Going down 0-5 in the first, then bringing it to 3-5 before losing it 3-6.  Then the second 2-6.

After the match, a teary eyed Natalie spoke about how stressed she felt about our Nana's situation.  That the phone calls from the doctor and her brother on our way to the courts was stressing her out.  Understandable to say the least.  I told her she should have said something and we could have just went home to see Nana, pulling her out of the tourney.

Nat's opponent in singles then became her partner in dubs.  Their opponents were Hibi/Harmon.  Our team fell behind in the first set rather quickly, losing it 1-6.   At the end of the first, we saw our team begin to "click", which spilled into the second set.  Natalie and Denise clicked along in the second winning it 4-6.  So onto the the breaker in lieu of the third set.  We missed a few routine shots and found ourselves down 3-5, before the match was stopped for rain.  About twenty minutes later, Denise was back to the line to serve.  Her and Nat never looked back, they plowed forward.  Denise's solid serves set Natalie up for the put way volleys.  That along with throwing in some solid lobs lead our team to a 10-7 victory of the third set and match.

Following doubles I spoke to our gal about going home today (Wednesday) for a few hours.  We could go see Nana and then come back.  For Nana will go to the OR today to have her broken shoulder and arm set.  After a lengthy discussion of options, our plan....as of this moment....stay here today and then go home for a "visit" prior to heading to Dothan.  By the time we would get home, Nana would be out of the OR and on heavy drugs for pain, Nat wants her to be awake when she goes to see her.  We will talk to Nana on the phone today and go see her as soon as Nat is finished here.  Please continue to pray for our Nana, thank you!

As if all that wasn't enough for one day, we couldn't wait to eat dinner.   Finding our way to an awesome Japanese restaurant with our host family and a friend was a perfect end to a long and stressful day.  The fellowship and laughs was just what we Pluskota gals needed.  We are very Blessed once again with a great host family!!

As long as Natalie doesn't change her mind after sleeping on our decision to wait to go see Nana.  She will visit a local school for a few hours.  Then practice and workout.  As for me, hopefully post some pictures from Jackson and here.  Sorry, no promises, for the many phone calls from home are taking up most of my day and energy.  And of course being up right now, one can only hope I can nap later.

Natalie and Denise will play again on Thursday.  The opponents will be decided today.  A dubs qualifier team will face the two seeds for the privilege of facing our team.  The two seeds are Cako/Gutherie.  You recognize anyone?

Guess that is all for now....she says yawning!  Maybe I can get some more ZZZzzZZzzzzZZZzz.  So see you on the flip side of the clouds....until then.....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

Giggles and Belly Laughs

Well, got the practice in and a YMCA workout.   A very productive day.  Followed by a yummy lasagna dinner prepared by our host mom Betty.  We were starving and it was amazing to come home to a homemade dinner.  Followed by freshly baked cookies....we could get used to this!  We had great fellowship with our host family Bill, Betty, Katelyn, Hunter over dinner.  Sharing stories and pictures.  Many giggles and belly laughs were had by all.

Tomorrow Natalie will play her doubles partner (Denise) in singles.  They will be third on after ten, which of course is code for 3ish.  Then their dubs match will be the featured centre court match at 5:30 Central Time.  That is 6:30, Georgia time.  Here is the link to live scoring.

Nana was admitted to the hospital today.  They did yet another ultra sound on the arm to check for blood clots.  Of course I was not happy since they just did that on Wednesday.  Come to find out the results from the first one was never posted into Nana's file so they didn't know she had it.  Ridiculous!  Any way like the first one. the second ultra sound came back clear.  However, they did notice on her chest x-ray that her arm is broke.  WOW.....now there is a theory....Nana's swollen arm is broke....freakin genius'.  They finally x-rayed it tonight and sure enough her arm is broken.  Her bones are so brittle that it doesn't take much for her to break a bone.

Hopefully, the Pluskota men will get some rest while they have a break from taking care of Nana.  All of us have been working so hard to take care of her and her needs.  Time for the basketball game.....Goooo Kentucky!   Love and Blessings.....Sherry!

Sending Prayers....

Sending prayers out to all in the path of the tornadoes and flooding.  Birmingham has much flooding today, hopefully only material things have been lost.  For they replaceable.

The weather continues to be an issue here in Pelham.  They were able to get most of yesterday's matches completed.  The unfinished rolled over till today.  However, still on rain delay, with nothing going on before one o'clock at this point.  Looks like the bad weather will move out by Wednesday, we shall see.

Natalie was able to practice yesterday and warm up a player for their match.  The rest of the day was watching basketball and enjoying dinner with our host family.  Thus far today.....breakfast and laundry.  Going over to the courts shortly.  Then to the YMCA for both of us to work out.  Still waiting to hear about today's ProAm and Player's Party.  All decisions for us and the tourney will be hour by hour.

Nat's brother Nic, took our Nana to the doctor today.  She is being admitted to the hospital as I type.  Her right arm is swollen and now is warm to the touch.  They will run a few tests, hopefully we will have a few answers.   I will more then likely go home tomorrow or Wednesday.  Unless they plan to just give her and IV and send home as they did two weeks ago.  All decisions will be hour by hour too.  The Pluskota men will have a little break from her around the clock care.  Hopefully, they will recharge their batteries.

Besides that, not much going on.....hahahah....yea right!  Hopefully, Natalie will play either tomorrow or Wednesday.  Won't know that until tonight when they schedule is released.  Nat will play doubles with fellow American Denise Muresan.  A new doubles pairing, that should be a good one.  A very sweet young lady that graduated from the University of Michigan.  And who has been on the opposite side of the net from Natalie.

See on the dry side of time....Love and Blessings....Sherry!

P.S. Please continue to pray for our Nana....thank you!

Delightful and Tennis Passionate Family

Ok, sooooo I've noticed many typos in my last blog and have corrected them.  Guess me being blind up close and trying to blog via my phone .....might not be the way to go.  Please excuse the errors, just felt it was important to get a blog posted and not leave you hanging as to the semis results.

During our drive to Pelham, Natalie received word that she was given a wild card into the main draw.  Which sparked the debate as to wether we should go home for a few days or not.  We chose to stay in Pelham.  She will have the opportunity to practice with many different people.  As well as participate in the ProAms and have a chance to earn a little extra money.

We were excited to get settled into our housing with the Bussey family.  What a delightful and tennis passionate family.  Judging for the amount of nudging I got from Natalie last night, I will probably be moving to the sofa tonight.  I guess all the stress with Nana has me very restless during my sleep.  No worries, never have met a sofa that I can't sleep on.   LOL!

Today will be a practice day, that is if the weather will allow it.  Currently rainy and cold.  If not, we may make the short jaunt over to the University of Alabama and watch their dual match.  There was to be a tail gate prior to the match which has been cancelled.

Time to get the princess up and breakfast, so until the lil yellow ball commences....Love and Blessings...Sherry!

Where's My Banjo?

Good morning from a very disappointingly COLD Jackson, MS.  Forgot how much I enjoy this city.  And the warm welcomes from my fellow Catholics.

Arrived yesterday in time for the sun to appear and doubles.  Natalie and Samantha played the Semis vs.  the Sema sisters.  Our team won the first set easily....lost the second easily... Then lost the breaker 10-7.  We had our chances but just let them slip away.  Over all a good week of tennis for both our gals.

Today, we travel to Pelham, AL for a 25k.  We are look forward to the seeing our friends there for they run a great tourney. And last year's kids clinic was packed with kids which is always fun.

Nana update:  three MRIs yesterday.  A doctor visit coming Mondsy.

Time to load and go, ole Willie is waiting on us!  Hopefully I will only get 6 phone calls today from the Pluskota men who are taking great care of our Nana!  Verses the seven of day one.  See you on the flip side of our drive to Alabama....where's my banjo? Love and Blessing....Sherry!

Semis Here We Come!

Evening!  Natalie and Samantha reeled off 5 straight games in the second set.  To win it and the match 6-2, 6-2.  Sending our team to the semi finals tomorrow.  They will play around five.  Not sure of opponents as of yet!

I'm blogging via my phone, sorry short!  Love and Blessing...Sherry!

Solid Dubs Between Friends

Gearing up to head out tomorrow.  So much to do, so little time, so this will be short.  Natalie lost a battle of a singles match 4-6, 6-2, 1-6.  She stated that she played well and they battled long points.  Her opponent seem to reach a zone that was untouchable in the third.  So hats off to the opponent.  Natalie had a very solid effort on the singles court this tourney, very proud of her.

Nat and Sam played doubles today.   Winning 6-2, 6-1.  They will play another fellow American team and Wild Cards Cako/Gaurachi (1182).  Everyone should recognize both names, Cako being Natalie's former steady dubs partner.  And Gaurachi has teamed up with Nat on the dubs on in the June of 2012. Natalie has faced both on the doubles court prior to tomorrow's meeting.  Therefore, this match will be solid dubs betweens friends.  The ladies will play third on after ten which is code for 1:30ish.

Nana had her ultra sound today, no blood clots.  Therefore, we still don't know what is causing the major swelling in her arm.  Don't think I've ever been so disappointed in our medical community as I have been through this six week ordeal with our Nana.  Contrary to what the White House wants us to believe WE DO NOT HAVE CHOICES OR OPTIONS!  Do not be fooled folks!  I'm living our health care system via Nana, it is horrible!  We ALL need to be concerned and scared as to where it is all going or should I say not going!

OK, off my soap box....sorry...but I want the truth to be told.  Not the non sense that both sides of the isles are puking on us!

Well, back to packing and preparing to depart.  Until the lil yellow bounces...Love and Blessings....Sherry!

She Will Move into the Main Draw

Got the update from the St. Dominic 25K Pro Classic and it was that Natalie WON!  WOOT!  With her 6-2, 6-2 win today she will move into the main draw.  Tomorrow, she will face Dia Evtimova (BUL), who is ranked 275 in the world.  As far as I know, Natalie has never faced Dia on the singles nor dubs courts.  They will play second on after 10, which is code for 11:30ish.

Following singles, Nat will have a break for lunch and then play dubs.  She and Crawford will face fellow Americans and Wild Cards Roberts/Flemmings.  That match will be fourth on after 10, which is code for 3:30ish.

There will be live scoring for both matches.  Which can be found via the link in my prior blog post.    As I ready myself to join Natalie in Jackson, I'm getting excited.  Seems like forever since I've watched that lil yellow ball bounce.  Let alone I just need a break from doctors and hospitals.  So, my friends until next time....Love and Blessings....Sherry!
