Bank West Dubs....links too

Let me try to update you on the happenings of the last few days.  The deadline for doubles check in at the Bank West Tourney 795K was noon yesterday.  After practice, Natalie and Jackie waited to see if they would get into the draw.  Below are some of the texts between Nat and me:

N:  15   (as in minutes to go)
S:  Come on Big Ben
N:  Right

N:   7 (minutes to go)
N:  We are gonna make it in
S:  Shhhh don't jinx it
N:  I am nervous....4 min
S:  Come on
S:  3
S:  2

N:  .......Asians
N:  Trying to mess it up  (trying to switch partners at last minute to get in, bumping another team out)
S:  Make sure the deadline is kept

N:  Please don't let her find someone
N:  Done...we in
S:  Congrats
N: YESSSSSSS

Probably the longest two minutes of her life....hahahhah!  Talk about nerve racking.  Within minutes the WTA rep asked Natalie to be the player representative.  Which basically means, she draws the names/numbers to create the draw.   After which her text read:

N:  We play Schiavone!   Hahahahah legend
S:  Sweet

Once my brain came back to earth, I packed the car and headed south to Palo Alto.  About forty minutes into my trip I stopped in Red Bluff and met my cousin.  She and I haven't seen each other in 30+ years.  She was there from Colorado to meet her newest grand baby.  Although my time was very short, it was awesome to see her, Tommy and his family.  A beautiful family indeed!  Yes....pics to follow!

Today will be a practice day, for our team doesn't play.  They will play either tomorrow or Wednesday.    Their opponents are Nuria Liagosterg Vives and Francesca Schiavone.  Natalie has not faced either of these ladies in the past, so I can't judge the outcome.

The Bank West Tournament will be featured on ESPN.  Not sure how much time will be devoted to doubles, if any info is given to us I will pass it on.  You can find the live scores on the tourney site.  Below are the links to the tournament site and doubles draw:

Hope I don't look like to much of a tourist at this tourney, will be hard not to be awe struck.  Looking forward to Natalie's WTA debut and watching some great tennis.....until then.....Love and Blessings.....Sherry!
