The Drama of Doubles

Good Afternoon Folks!  A big welcome to our 30th member of the blog....Haines!  We know many view our blog, but not many join.  So, please join us folks, it's free and you do not need a Google email address either.  Just follow the directions below the list of members and please join us.

Welcome Haines!

Started yesterday by going onto the South Carolina DOT site.  Wanted to see if Route 17S was open for travel.  Unfortunately, the site is NOTHING like GA's.  When you pull up the GA DOT, the home page shows all the closures and problem areas.  Listed them and the issue.  On the SC site, they stated 75 roads were closed but they did not list the roads.  Poor site management.

So after saying our good byes to our awesome host Jodi, we set out on our journey.   We took to I526 to 17 South.  Made our way for about 15 miles to our first road block and signage.  Turned around and headed north to reconnect with I95 South.  What a drag, this took us about an hour and a half out of our way.  But we are very thankful to have made it safe and sound.

Meanwhile, Jodi got us the hook up with an awesome condo here in Hilton Head.  She contacted a friend who spoke to a friend and here we are.  We are very thankful indeed.  If you ever need a condo here let me know and I will help you rent it.

This morning was a bag of mix emotions.  First, Natalie saw an old friend and training partner Erica Krisan.  Erica has always been and still is....a smiling, happy go lucky, giggling gal.  We got caught up and her and Nat hit for a while.

Erica and Natalie

Then it was the drama of doubles....what to do about a partner and getting into the draw.  Let me see if I can explain without confusing everyone including myself.  OK, first Natalie and Caroline were to play dubs here in Hilton Head.  One problem, Caroline is still in Charleston trying to play singles.....no the supervisor there hasn't cancelled singles yet.  Soooooo, our team decided to apply for a main draw wild card.....BUT....if they don't get one and need to play the qualifier.....they can't cuz it would be today and Caroline is not here yet.  Soooooo, Natalie had to get a back up partner.  Why you ask?  Cuz if they don't get a wild card into the main, Nat would need to play the qualifier with someone else.  Confused yet?  Ok Good.......NOW.....Natalie had a back up partner in place.  Explained to both partners what the options were and continued to update them minute to minute.

At a lil before noon, the double sign up deadline.  The supervisor called the USTA.  To see which team they were going to award with the main draw doubles wild cards.  There were two wild cards.  By this time Natalie was like a caged cat, walking around the room.  I think realizing how lucky she was in the past and even saying what a humbling experience it was.

Very happy to say that Natalie and Caroline were awarded a wild card into the main draw.  WOOT!  Now, I pray that Caroline finishes in Charleston and travels safely to this tourney.  Talk about crazy and nerve racking.

Sorry to say, it's currently raining here.  UGH!  Supposed to be rain free starting tomorrow, sure hope that doesn't change.  Time to do something....not sure what....but something.  Love and Blessings.....Sherry!
