5th Alternate

Sooooo, as of this moment Natalie has moved up to the 5th alternate for the qualifying draw.  Crazy I know, a bit of gamesmanship.  As a matter of fact one player that is on the qualifier list, just finished playing a match in Raleigh, NC and has to play doubles there in an hour.  So, do you really think she is going to tank doubles to fly to St. Gaudens tomorrow to play the qualifier here on Saturday??  We don't think so, but I guess time will tell.  Anyway, if she doesn't arrive....that moves Nat up to #4 alternate.  We still believe she will get into the draw.

Natalie will try to find a doubles partner tomorrow during the sign in process.  Shouldn't be too hard of a thing to accomplish but time will tell.  Singles play will begin on Saturday, not typical....usually starts on Sunday.  The shift in scheduling takes place prior to the Grand Slams to allow players to play "warm up" tourneys prior to the big show.  Which means the main draw and doubles should start a day early as well.

We were able to find a local pizza joint this evening.  After standing there 20 minutes trying to decide what to order or should I say translate via guessing what to order.  We finally pointed at an item on the menu, crossed our fingers and waited for it to be ready.  Come to find out, we did well.  We ordered a chicken, mushroom, potato, bell pepper pizza.  And it was very good.  As we ate, Natalie translated the entire menu so we would know what to order in the future.

Time for bed for up early to go shopping before the stores close!  Love and Blessings.....Sherry!
